Both are necessary

We need to use our own ability and to muster all our intelligence and power to put our own house and world in as good order as we can. But once we have done our best (which we often seem unable to do), we still need something more. Both efforts are needed. It is not a matter of choosing between human ability and divine power and direction. We need to give our best effort to this present-day world and still ask humbly for help and guidance.
